The 13th Technological Exchange Symposium on Laboratory Animal Application in Traditional Chinese Medicine Development in China held Successfully

On January 21, 2024, the 13th Technological Exchange Symposium on Laboratory Animal Application in Traditional Chinese Medicine Development in China was held at the ECO International Conference Center in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. The symposium was hosted by the Specialized Committee on Laboraory Animal Application in Traditional Chinese Medicine Development, organized by Shenzhen Hongtengkeji Bio-Tech Co., Ltd. and Pizhou Dongfang Breeding Co., Ltd., and co-organized by Shinva Medical Instrument Co., Ltd., Sino Innovation Laboratory (Beijing) Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., Wuxi Xinfilan Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., and Jiangsu Xietong Pharmaceutical Bio-engineering Co., Ltd.

Themed on "Focusing on the high-quality development of laboratory animal application for traditional Chinese medicine to enhance the integration and innovation ability of traditional Chinese medicine", the symposium aimed to promote the research and development of laboratory animal application for traditional Chinese medicine, strengthen the integration and innovation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with modern science and technology, and promote the improvement and development of traditional Chinese medicine. The symposium was attended by approximately 220 experts, scholars, and scientific and technological practitioners from TCM colleges and universities, research institutes, and management agencies across the country.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Wang Hongbin from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. Guests attending the symposium included Professor Ni Jiazuan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Shenzhen University; Academician Guan Yi, Director of Shanghai Institute of Viral Disease; Zhao Hongxu, Secretary General of Chinese Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences; Zhu Caiyi, Secretary General of Guangdong Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences; Professor Wang Yongfeng from Gansu Medical College; Professor Miao Mingsan, Vice President of Henan University of Chinese Medicine; Professor Wang Dejun from Zhejiang University of Chinese Medicine; Liang Qianqian, Director of the Spinal Disease Research Institute of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; as well as the committee members and guests from all levels of the laboratory animal industry.

Professor Wang Hongbin, Professor Ni Jiazuan, Secretary General Zhao Hongxu, Secretary General Zhu Caiyi, and Senior Engineer Wang Hongjun, delivered speeches, respectively. Professor Ni Jiazuan expressed his love for traditional Chinese medicine and his sincere hope for its development.

Following the opening ceremony, the symposium specially invited Academician Guan Yi, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Emerging Infectious Diseases (University of Hong Kong) and Director of Shanghai Institute of Viral Disease, to give a keynote speech. Thirteen other experts and scholars also gave wonderful presentations on topics such as healthy China, evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine animal models, current status of laboratory animal application for traditional Chinese medicine, germ-free animals, and intestinal flora.


After the symposium, the organizers arranged for the participants to visit the Laboratory Animal Center at Sun Yat-sen University's Shenzhen campus and the production base of Shenzhen Hongtengkeji Bio-Tech Co., Ltd.
